Adieu Summer, Adieu Frangipanis

One of the telling signs for me that summer is departing is that the great beauty that was your favourite frangipani will be forming a pasty muck all over the ground as those last stinky and sticky rains that cover Sydney usually spells the end of summer is nigh. Seeing that paste on your stone tiles or across a neighbourhood pavement brings forth a melancholy for the summer that has just passed and what memories stuck out for you. I have quite a few, I hardly got a day at the beach this summer but I had other moments. One of the few tropical splendid moments I did get was snapping this frangipani one early January day in all it's wonderful glory. I have now asked Violetta Kurbanova, the textiles artist that is working exclusively with us on hand-panted pocket silk pocket squares, to freeze this frangipani's moment onto silk so it can have an endless summer. Stay tuned to the website.
