For A Man Who Loves A Generous Portion - The Leng Bespoke X Le Noeud Papillon Christmas Window Jacket

There comes a point when the student should listen to the master and be silent. In the world of bespoke garment making I might have gotten one or two things right but when it comes to suits I must say I sometimes gravitate too far left of field. I was obsessed with making a David Beckham styled shawl lapel and I kept pushing Leng for a bigger and bigger shawl and shaping and re-shaping it with him on paper until I was perfectly happy.

I cannot tell you whether I was definitively wrong or not but what I do know is that when I tried it on I knew I had taken something right to the cusp of being gaudy and, well, I wasn't sure if I had fallen off the edge. We can over-bake these things and although it will still make a wonderful Christmas display for the window of the Le Noeud Papillon Studio, I am not entirely sure it will look as good in situ.

Always remember to listen to your tailor - you think he might be trying to cut corners on you or that he is just being lazy and doesn't want to push the boundaries - or maybe he's just plain right! Experience over experiments might be the order of the day. Let us wait and see. Meanwhile, the bow tie is on the website.
