There is a lot of chitter chatter on the internet about Arnys . Some of it is about the fact that there is some merger going on between Berluti and Arnys, some talk about the dying institutions of Paris with great nostaligia, others are talking about the fact that it was the quiet doyen of high brow taste in Paris. Such is the internet these days that there is a lot of chitter chatter and it flows quickly from blog to blog. So I decided to stick my nose into Arny's to see what all the fuss was about.
In my view, Arny's is the way I view old people. You must show them deference and respect whilst at the same time deriding them for being a dinosaur. I was not so fascinated as some of these blog writers are about Arny's. The quality seemed very good, the displays were excellent, however I could not help but feel that I had arrived a little too late.... much the same feeling as I get when I take a tour of Athens. Perhaps there is a counter argument against the bloggers that are worried about Berluti moving in, perhaps that is just the life blood that Arny's needs. The Rue Marbeuf store of Berluti houses the brand new space for the clothing collection. I was fortunate enough to arrive in the store 10 days after it had been opened. From what I saw of it, it is exactly what Arny's needs. The only problem is, I have absolutely no idea who is going to be able to afford it.
