Westfields Centrepoint

I have to admit, the first time I went in there I wasn't that impressed (except for Harrolds which was a paradigm shift in the way menswear was retailed in this country). Whilst Harrolds had a fantastic fit out, brilliant brands and the best of merchandising, the rest of the complex seemed to me a labyrinth without any real logic behind it. When you navigated your way through you felt, like Thesesus , that you ought to take a ball of thread - and that there was a high price to Ariadne. Quite suddenly I had no reference point to natural light through these winding paths and I actually became a little disorientated. It was only when I went back a few times to show friends Zara or to pop into Harrolds that I began to feel a little more at ease. And now, now I think it is clever and tricky retail. It's the labyrinth of shopping malls where your challenge is to come out of the labyrinth with your credit card still in tact and holding Ariadne in your arms.
