I found these in a book my cousin leant me. I was thoroughly amused not only by the sketches and the predicaments in which these gentleman (cads and roues) were enjoying themselves but also the wonderful captions underneath which say so much about the attitudes of men during that period.
I think scarves are going to be big this summer. Tying them around the neck, either outside or inside. It's very Carey Grant 'To Catch a Thief" and reminiscent of a time of elegance which I think the world is starting to want to embrace again.
For too long we've been scrunching up jeans and t-shirts in an effort to be increasingly urban but I envisage a new dawn when Australian men will embrace a more sophisticated look. I'm not keen on the grubbiness of some facets of Australian fashion. Very few brands are trying to offer a more sophisticated look. One which has though, has been Arthur Gallan, who piped the shirt, attempted to put a bow tie or two in the window and has advanced the dinner suit back into the public concscience.
