Last year, as a reaction to the pandemic and as a result of us working with a very prestigious loom that makes woven jacquard silks with lurex details, we set ourselves (my tailor and me) to produce our first bomber jacket made from silk.
It was a very fruitful project. About as fruitful as our cushions have been. They are like works of art. We are asking $7500 for each but it is a bespoke process whereby you choose the jacquard and it is loomed for you, you choose your own linings in silk from our limited edition printed silks and you choose your cuffs.
Where would you wear such a jacket in the current environment? In truth, I could not tell you. It's probably something you would only wear to a dinner party right now. A very private one. Because being a peacock does not seem like something one would want to do mid-pandemic and with the economy in such an uncertain state.
However, I do not see them as garish because they are intended to be veritable pieces of art created as one offs rather than as something that is consumed and thrown away.
