Apologies For Cutting My Head Off

I did not want to decapitate myself but then my girlfriend is the most terrible photographer on earth. She insists I can't post a photo of her unless it is perfect, but on the flip side, she manages to make me look like Shrek in every frame. Back to the reason for this post. The half velvet, half satin bow ties are extremely useful items to create an almost piped look around the edges of the bow tie. You can use them as both velvet bows and as silk bow ties. Tonight for an anniversary event for a golf club I went to, I chose to invert the bow and turn it into a black silk bow tie instead of the ruby red velvet. This photo really shows that magic when you see the edges of alternate colour and the half centre knot.

I am wearing a custom made LNP smoking jacket using black Holland & Sherry modal velvet, black satin silk shawl lapel with traditional frogging. I am wearing an LNP white Oxford concealed button shirt with windsor collar, an LNP 'Viktor' black silk satin hand-fringed scarf and a Charvet pocket square.

NB: Interesting to note this evening's event that there are still very much two types of men. Those that tie their own bow ties and those that don't. Those that do generally dress more meticulously and with greater panache than those that don't. It just seems to be a fact of life or perhaps a rite of passage to get to the next level; to look as beautiful as the furnishings of the room, or the glories of the banquet, or the gardens that surround. To live up, not down.
